We're finding all kinds of cool things to do here.
And my camera bag still smells like campfire smoke from this one.
Last weekend (the day after Thanksgiving, a special one for Doug and Me) we found ourselves at a local Nursery enjoying (with more than 1500 others) what they call
Christmas in the Nighttime Sky
We all brought an new unwrapped toy for donation,
visited with Santa amongst a varied fragrant assortment of Christmas Trees, and partook of a pleasant buffet featuring the local cuisine:
Baked Potato.
Baked Potato.
It was oh so festive.
There was Christmas music all a-flutter, and at least SEVEN of these bonfires to stave off the hypothermia.

My favorite was when the fire would dim, and someone would throw on another palette.

We ran into some friends from church and drank hot chocolate while waiting for the fireworks.
Fireworks For Christmas!
Who knew?
The best part was the festive soundtrack that accompanied the "less summer-mosquito-infested" version of the American pastime. I did shed a tear or two as Jon Schmidt's rendition of "Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella" rang through the air accompanying the bursting lights above us.
There with my children and husband, on our anniversary with a bonfire celebrating the beginnings of such a sacred season....
